New Year’s Resolutions Start at Home

Let's start by saying happy New Year everyone!

For many of us, the start of a new year is a time to set goals and make resolutions for the coming months. While some goals are specific or related to work or travel, many of the common resolutions for the new year can be started right at home. Here are some of the things you can do to make your 2025 a successful one.

Finance

Finances are on everyone's mind, and often at the top of many resolution lists. In fact, reports show that saving money is one of the most common new year's resolutions that people make. Luckily, there are several small things you can do around your home to make those goals a reality. These include common sense energy savings, paying attention to water usage and even considering more home cooking. Here's some simple ideas:

  • Turn off the lights in rooms you're not in.
  • Turn off appliances when you leave the apartment.
  • Take shorter showers.
  • Buy used furniture instead of new, or try out some DIY projects.
  • Cook at home instead of ordering takeout — this is healthier for you, too!

Health

Health goals are also very common new year's resolutions. The focus on eating healthier, exercising more, and losing weight can feel like a daunting one, and sometimes it seems like we need to invest in a special program or go out to the gym to make that happen. But, luckily, there are plenty of things that you can do to improve your health right at home including exercising, hydrating, reducing electronic usage and improving on sleep patterns. Here's some simple suggestions:

  • Exercise in your home — yoga is a great option that doesn't require equipment to take up space.
  • Improve your sleep schedule, and make sure you're getting enough rest.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking enough water.
  • Try to minimize screen time, and take regular breaks.
  • Create morning and nightly routines to ensure you're taking care of yourself.

Happiness

For many people, this is a goal that is far less defined — they just want to "be happier." Of course, happiness looks a little different for everyone. But it's safe to say that happiness begins at home, by creating a space that you're happy to spend time in. And there are plenty of things you can do to your apartment to make sure that your 2025 is the best that it can be.

  • Take some time to declutter, and start your year fresh.
  • Clean shared spaces regularly, especially living rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms.
  • Re-organize furniture to make your space feel new and inviting -- make it feel like 'you'.
  • Have friends or family over, and spend time with the people you care about.

Whatever your resolutions are for this new year, we're wishing you success, and a bright and happy 2025!
